Support the Artificial Reef Program

The New York Artificial Reef Program manages a series of reef sites located in Great South Bay, Long Island Sound, and the Atlantic Ocean. Artificial reefs enhance the local marine habitat and provide opportunities for fishing, Scuba diving, and research. Selected clean materials, such as vessels and barges, are aquatically recycled to provide habitat for fish and other aquatic organisms. Most of our reefs were built through the donation of materials and resources from fishing and diving clubs, government agencies, private businesses, and individuals. Funds raised will be used to develop the various reef sites through material acquisition, preparation, and deployment.
